Yasam Live Aquarium Plant Java Fern Trident Microsorum Pteropus - Pot or 15cm Tall on Lava Rock

Java Fern Trident (Microsorum pteropus 'Trident') is one of the easiest live plants you can add to an aquarium. Its narrow, forked leaves give a fine, natural texture to aquascapes, betta tanks and shrimp tanks. It is hardy, slow growing and forgiving, so it suits beginners and busy hobbyists alike.

Choose your type

• Trident Pot: a potted Trident, ready to place or attach to your own hardscape.
• Lava Rock 15cm: about 15cm tall, a bigger piece for a fuller look, already attached to lava rock. Just place it in your tank.

Why it's easy

• No special lighting needed. Grows well under normal aquarium lights.
• No CO2 or special substrate needed.
• Low maintenance and slow growing, so it rarely needs trimming.

Care tips

• Don't bury the rhizome (the thick stem the leaves grow from), or it can rot. Tie or glue it to rock or driftwood, or wedge it between stones.
• Potted plant: remove the pot and rock wool before planting.
• Light: low to medium. Very strong light can brown the leaves.
• Water: comfortable in typical tropical tank conditions, around 20-28°C.
• Feeding: optional. A liquid fertiliser now and then gives greener, faster growth.
• New plants: small baby plants may grow on older leaves. Once they have roots and a few leaves, you can pull them off and attach them elsewhere.
• Trim off any old brown leaves at the base to keep the plant tidy.
